Rene (Renegade) Guajardo, 65, of Taft, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home in Taft surrounded by his loving family.



Rene was a passionate man who enjoyed automotives, fishing, traveling and barbecuing with his family. Rene was born in Robstown, Texas to Chon and Hortencia Guajardo on January 8, 1952. He married Dianne (Vega) on March 4, 1976 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Robstown High School. Rene was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army as a helicopter door gunner. Rene (Renegade) Guajardo, 65, of Taft, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at his home in Taft surrounded by his loving family.



Rene was a passionate man who enjoyed automotives, fishing, traveling and barbecuing with his family. Rene was born in Robstown, Texas to Chon and Hortencia Guajardo on January 8, 1952. He married Dianne (Vega) on March 4, 1976 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Robstown High School. Rene was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army as a helicopter door gunner. He worked as a Pipefitter Foreman for over 35 years, sharing his knowledge and experience with passion among everyone who worked with him and regarded him as “Renegade”. Rene will be deeply missed by those who love him and remembered by those who knew him as one of a kind.





Rene is preceded in death by his Father, Chon Guajardo, brother, Juan Guajardo, sister, Anna Orona and grandsons, Angel Andres Casanova and Julio Zo Gonzalez, III.



Rene was a doting husband to his wife, Dianne (Babe), and extremely loving and proud of his children, son, Rik Casanova, from Taft; daughter, Ruby Dominguez (Lupe), from Portland; son, Ryan Guajardo (Carrie), from Corpus Christi; daughter, Renata Gonzalez (Julio), from Corpus Christi; daughter, Alyssa Escobedo and (previously) Rene Guajardo, Jr. from El Campo and Rodina Washington from El Campo. His mother, Hortencia Guajardo, his sisters, Diana Rendon and Sylvia Guajardo of Robstown. His niece, Debbie Garza (Ricky) from Banquete and nephew, John Guajardo (Lori) from Weslaco remained in his heart like his own. His love for his many nieces and nephews was unconditional. He has many loving grandchildren and one great grandchild.



Rosary will be recited at Colonial Funeral Home in Taft, Texas, on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 7:00 pm. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Concepcion Church in Taft, Texas on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10:00 am.
